2019 Biennial Conference
The 2019 biennial conference in San Diego coincided with the annual meeting of the American Academy of Religion and Society of Biblical Literature, the largest gathering of scholars of religion. A range of young and established scholars presented papers pertaining to the biennial’s theme: Religion and Race in the Times of Trump. Anthony B. Pinn, Agnes Cullen Arnold Professor of Humanities and Professor of Religion at Rice University and co-Founder of the SRER served as a respondent. The presentations addressed the current state of religious and racial affairs in the U.S., the western world, and the global academy, in the wake of the social turbulence fostered by the Trump administration.
